Target is doing their carseat trade-in event again for the 10th year and yay! By doing so, they allow parents and caregivers to dispose of carseats responsibly and get a discount in return to buy a baby product of their choice. It’s a win-win situation!

When:

September 20-October 3

Where:

Most Targets participate in the trade-in event and have large white, well-marked boxes next to the customer service area where you may place your unwanted car seats

What carseats do they accept:

  • Rear-facing only infant seats
  • Infant seat bases
  • Convertible seats
  • All-in-ones/3-in-1s/4-in-1s/5-in-1s
  • Harness-to-booster (combination) seats
  • Belt-positioning boosters (highback and backless)

These carseats can be in pristine condition, crashed, moldy, old, recalled, without covers, tired, hungry, or cranky. Target will take them.

What they give you in return:

There’s a code you’ll scan for a Circle Bonus discount for 20% off a new carseat or select other baby gear, such as playards, highchairs, swings, rockers, or bouncers. This discount is stored in your Wallet in the Target app and can be redeemed TWICE.

The code is on the big boxes at the front of the store and also in the carseat area, so it’s not likely you’ll miss it.

How long do you have to use the discount:

The discount is valid to use until October 17, 2026. You can use it either in-store or online if the store doesn’t have your preferred item.

Can I combine/stack the code?

Sure can! You can only use one (1) 20% off discount per carseat or baby gear purchase, but you can combine it with discounts like Target Circle and the 5% Target REDCard discount. You can also stack Target registry coupons for deep discounts.

Are there restrictions or exclusions?

Of course, there are! Some brands don’t want to participate so we give them that. You can read about the restrictions here.

When is the next event?

Events are twice a year: around Earth Day ♻️ in April and during Child Passenger Safety Week (3rd week) in September.
